What credentials do I need to rent with you?

Accepted Answer

We require our clients to be experienced, confident, and safe on the size boat that they are renting. This means you have operated a boat like the one you are planning to rent. It means you are able to operate it in the harbor and offshore, and be able to dock it in a slip. If you are unsure of your boating experience we are happy to offer chartered tours or a 2 hour docking lesson where our captain can train you on our boats and how to safely dock them before your trip. What is the operating area?

240 Alaskan: 50 mile radius from Seward Harbor. This includes as far East Montague Island’s Macleod Harbor on the NW side but no further on the SE side than Cape Cleare. As far West as the Southern tip of Ragged Island. The allowed radius depends on weather conditions and we reserve the right to restrict the maximum radius due to weather.All other boats in fleet: 25 mile radius from Seward Harbor. This includes as far East as the most eastern headland of Johnstone Bay. As far West as Cape Aialik and into Aialik Bay without passing Harbor Island or any of the islands beyond it.

Is gas included?

It is the renter's responsibility to fill up the fuel tank PRIOR to returning the boat to its slip. If the tank is not completely filled, a $100.00 convenience fee will be charged to your on-file credit card, plus market rate per gallon of gas required. Boats not in the slip at 8:30 PM will incur a $60.00 charge (dollar/minute) per hour in addition to fuel.
